Mega Man....10?!

When I first found out about Mega Man 9, I was REALLY skeptical about it. I was certain that it was just some stupid internet hoax, that is until Capcom released an official trailer.

Fast forward about one year and I hear about Mega Man 10. Again, I just thought "LOL yeah right". And then I saw a picture for one of it's bosses. Are you ready for this?

Sheep Man.

....

SHEEP.

A SHEEP.

A ROBOTIC SHEEP.

Again, I thought it was fake, it looked really official but any talented artist can duplicate Capcom's art style. I mean come on...a sheep robot master? Granted a lot of the past robot masters weren't so great either, I mean look at Wood Man and Top Man. But then I found out that it came from a Nintendo Power Magazine Article, and even saw a mock poster art for it and a page of information. It was at that time that I realized that this was the real deal.

...and again I'm skeptical. Not that if the game is real, but skeptical that if the game will be any good. Honestly, I feel they should've stopped with Mega Man 9. Yeah it didn't tie up any loose ends and finish on a high note, but it was a great game and a worthy Mega Man game. My main beef with this is that it's gonna be 8-bit again.

Now I love 8-bit pixel art as much as the next person, but come on, think about it. The original Mega Man games haven't gone through much redesigning. We have the same 8-bit sprite that was used for 1-6, 9 and the gameboy games, the 16-bit megaman sprite for Mega Man 7, and the 32-bit sprite for Mega Man 8. So quite frankly we're pretty good with 8-bit Mega Man games. Doing the 8-bit revival for Mega Man 9 was really fun and nice, it was a great throw back to the original games and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

But doing it again the second time? Now it just feels lazy, rather than just doing it for nostalgia's sake. I mean this is 2009, and I would love to see a brand new original Mega Man game with updated graphics. It doesn't have to be next gen or state of the art, but just something new! Look at Mega Man Powered Up, that was a pretty cool idea. And look at that game, wouldn't it be awesome to have a new Mega Man game that had the stage creator that Powered Up had? I'd love that.

Despite all that, MM10 is looking pretty decent so far. Being able to play as Proto Man from the start of the game? An easy difficulty for the people complaining of the difficulty from the last game? A third playable character besides Proto Man? Not a bad start I'll admit.

If Bass doesn't appear, I'm gonna be very disappoint.

Goddamnit.

I wish there was someone behind me with a baseball bat, threatening to crack me over the head with it whenever I try to get up and do something else to avoid drawing.

Monk Series Finale

...was pretty good actually. I really wish it had more build up, because it just seemed to come out of nowhere, for a few seasons nothing is ever mentioned of Trudy's murder then out of nowhere it seemed like OMG A NEW DEVELOPMENT IN THE CASE. But besides that and the fact that Monk seemed to solve it pretty quickly it was pretty satisfying, nice closure and everything. I'm glad it ended now before it got stale, it just started to feel that way too.

Now I can finally focus on the last two episodes of Dexter the upcoming weeks. Now THAT'S a show. It's one of those shows that I hate it for being so goddamn great, because then it means that I have to wait a week for the next episode.

George Lopez Drinking Game.

Further proof that I have way too much time on my hands, here's a fun drinking game I thought up of that you can do with your friends the next time you catch the George Lopez Show.

Take a shot whenever George says one of the following:

ORALE!
WWWHAPAAA!
OH QUE LA!
Watcha!
I CAN'T DO NOTHING! (sometimes followed by "IN THIS HOUSE!")
I GOT THIS!

Take two shots whenever George does one of the following:

George takes credit for one of Angie's ideas.
George BLAMES Angie for one of his bad ideas.
George undermines one of Vic's stories and makes a joke about it.
George complains how his mom made his childhood a living hell.
George jokes about getting rid of a member of their family.

Happy Drinking!

Modern Warfare 2

So as most of you know, Modern Warfare 2 was released this past Tuesday, I had my copy reserved and picked it up in the morning of it's release. As soon as I got home I put the game in and began playing the single player campaign.

And wow.

It definitely lived up to it's hype, MW2 was a fantastic game and the campaign was just really adrenaline filled and heart pumping. The areas seem so much more expansive and open, giving you more than just one route to go to your next objective, but at the same time it gives your enemies more space to maneuver and flank you. There aren't much changes to the core gameplay, the only real changes from the last games are the weapons and changes to the multiplayer.

The amount of detail was so boggling when I first played it, I spent a few minutes reading all the default classes the game offered the first time I played online. The Perks are so widely varied now, ranging from simple ones like making your bullets stronger to more advanced ones that scramble any enemy's radar that get close to you. And the amount of detail you can put into customizing your weapons is just jarring. I personally love the Heart Beat Sensor, a small screen that's attached to your weapon that scans the area in front of you, if an enemy is near a red dot appears and begins beeping, the faster it beeps the closer they are. Not only does it help you but it just has that THIS IS LIKE THAT SCENE FROM ALIENS coolness to it.

There are nearly a dozen customization attachments to each gun, allowing endless possibilities on creating your perfect weapon, along with nearly a ton of new equipment to aid you in battle. The Kill Streaks have been greatly changed to. No longer are you now confined to the UAV, Airstrike and Chopper call ins, you can choose which kill streak you want by going in your barracks. Again, the amount of these is just enormous, there are some standard ones that call in chopper support to drop ammunition for you and your team mates and bigger ones like being able to call in an AC130 attack plane and actually controlling the weapons on the ship as it circles around the map a few times. I have the Air Drop, Sentry Gun (can't help but think of Team Fortress 2 when I set one up) and Harrier Strike.

There's also the Special Ops where you and a friend can tackle dozens of missions (whether it be split screen or online) and complete objectives, earning stars along the way that unlock more missions to play. I've played a few of these with one of my friends and I think one of the coolest ones was one mission where I piloted an AC130 and gave support fire to my friend as he ran across a map trying to get to the finish as I took out the enemies going after him.

I'm having lots of fun with the game, too much fun I think, I keep getting side tracked from drawing and other things. But I'm gonna do my best to not play today and get that stuff done. There's always the weekend anyway, there's a Modern Warfare 2 All Nighter Play Date this Saturday, might just go and participate in that depending how many of my friends go on.

So yeah, MW2 is a really great game. I'd say go get it, though it might not be as impacting if you haven't played the original Modern Warfare, but that won't stop you from having a great time playing this game.
